The Problem
Have you ever been in the car and in desperate need to find a gas station fast, or if you are in town and just looking for the cheapest gas station around you. These two examples are just common examples of problems in everyday life while driving. If there was some way you can get information about gas stations near you while you were in the car, then these problems would cease to ever arise again.
The Solution
Give directions to gas stations with current gas prices via electronically to the user.
Description
The maps of different cities can be printed onto the Anoto paper. If users are in need to find a local gas station, they can just draw a circle around the area where they are at the moment. A text message can be sent to the user’s cell phone with the locations of gas stations within the drawn circle with their current prices. The user can use the map virtually anywhere, he does not have to be conformed only within the car. The maps can be reusable, if the user wants the info for the same gas stations at the same area, he would just recircle the area. There somehow would be a way to signal when he wants to find gas stations and when he is just circling the map for other reasons.
Problem Context and Forces
The solution to the problem of finding near by gas stations by drawing a circle around the area of location on an Anoto map is quick and efficient. The driver does not need to waste time and what’s left of gas when searching for gas stations. This is also a perfect solution for people who like to travel and do not know the area well. For the people who do not have a navigator in their car this system is invaluable. The maps can still be used for its general purposes even if not used to find gas stations. The map would be inexpensive so that is a plus for people.
Target Users
The target users are anyone who is a driver or is a good passenger capable in reading maps. They would need this function on their maps because it will help them find gas stations faster so their time is not wasted and their patience is not tested.
Solution Sketch
Draw a circle something like this on a picture of a map that has been printed on the Anoto paper.
Then the user would get a text message on his cell phone with something like this.
Arco 5498 Monterey Hwy & Blossom Hill
Chevron 161 Blossom Hill Rd & Beswick
NOTE: The name of the gas station and the address is suppose to be on seperate lines but i dont know how to do an enter on wiki
